Odissea

Odissea is an artful experience meant to be worn as a reflexion of subtle beauty. Our pieces are hand crafted with the intention of enhancing details, shapes and colors from the world around us.

I’m Nathalie Martinez, a born & raised Mexican artist. Collaborating with artisans from Taxco, we explore the ever changing expressions of sea shells & metal - symbolisms of beauty that’s marked by the evolution of time & natural phenomenon. Like the shells, each piece is different & embodies a story of its own.

COLLECTION ORIGIN

Jewelry can be worn as a memorabilia from a distant time & place, a symbolism of the ever-changing nature of memories.

It all started when I turned sea shells collected from the Rockaway beach into jewelry pieces. Ever since, I’ve been archiving shells from my travels.

I work with artisans from a small town called Taxco, the biggest silvermining town. Sadly, this craft is a dying art - all silversmiths are 60 years old or older.

Odissea was born not only out of my love for creating beauty from nature's spontaneity, but also a greater desire to preserve the silversmithing art in Mexico.

My hope is to eventually build a craft school in Taxco to inspire younger generations to preserve this craft.
