Odissea

Odissea is an artful experience meant to be worn as a reflection of subtle beauty. Founder Nathalie Martinez, a born & raised Mexican artist, collaborates with silversmiths from Taxco, Mexico. They explore the ever changing expressions of sea shells & metal - symbolisms of beauty that’s marked by the evolution of time & natural phenomenon.

COLLECTION ORIGIN

Jewelry can be worn as a memorabilia from a distant time & place, a symbolism of the ever-changing nature of memories.

It all started when I turned sea shells collected from the Rockaway beach into jewelry pieces. Ever since, I’ve been archiving shells from my travels.

I work with artisans from a small town called Taxco, the biggest silvermining town. Sadly, this craft is a dying art - all silversmiths are 60 years old or older.

Odissea was born not only out of my love for creating beauty from nature's spontaneity, but also a greater desire to preserve the silversmithing art in Mexico.

My hope is to eventually build a craft school in Taxco to inspire younger generations to preserve this craft.
